One of my pastors retweeted this tweet today, and something about it made me stop scrolling through my twitter feed.
If Jesus is miserable, we should be. If he’s happy, let’s be happy! “Sorrowful but always rejoicing” (2 Cor. 6:10).
I read through that first part of 2 Corinthians 6 to get even the tiniest bit of context, and still just could not understand what would make my ever-optimistic pastor choose to share this one, of all the rich, important tweets flowing out from today’s leaders.
Really, it doesn’t matter why my pastor shared it. It doesn’t even matter why the tweet itself makes little sense to me.
This is God’s power reflected in our weakness. That’s it. It’s not about being miserable or being happy. It’s not about anything other than breathing a humble hallelujah that because He is everything, we don’t need to be.
